Success - A Poem by Vanita Thakkar
Success
In the garden of Life
The plant of Success flourishes,
Bearing flowers of Contentment
And fruits of Happiness
Only when the water of Hope
Is there to nurture it,
Safeguarding it against
The heat of defeat
And Self-confidence is there
At its side to care
And protect it against
The devastating winds of despair.
Sow seeds of your Dreams
In the soil of Sincere Efforts,
Sprinkle Faith and Forgiveness
To destroy the doubts, the ifs-and-buts;
Recommended
With a Prayer in your heart,
Nurture your plant of Success.
You have with you
My prayers and best wishes.
- Vanita Thakkar (03.07.1988)
I wrote this poem for one of my friends at school. We were writing in each other's slam book - giving each other memories that would stay much longer with us than our togetherness.
We were higher secondary school classmates and were enjoying our last days as school-going youngsters.
We parted on different paths of life. However, we all met again, thanks to internet.
Reflections ....
We all aspire for success. Our understanding of success plays an important role in determining and maintaining our outlook towards life, which steers our actions and reactions.
On one side are the joys which fulfilling various roles and inevitabilities bring and on the other side are the questions they arouse in the surroundings on identities and loyalties (??!!) and so on .... they are mundane squabbles that many a times take heavy tolls in life ....
Desired results and rewards do matter. However, an atmosphere which provokes tendencies of trying to grab them at any cost through mind games of greed and deprival and the ensuing rat races, evokes vicious traps that foster undesirable stresses and strains. In modern administrative set-ups, there seems to be a tradition of considering such atmospheres inevitable. That is why success has become so much a matter of sufferings, sacrifices and stresses.
Pure intentions, sincerity in efforts and consistency ensure success.
