I can’t help but think that one day I’ll belong,

That I’ll be free to be me and carry on.

I know others struggle with the same things I do,

But when you feel like the world’s against you, there’s not much you can do.

Walking around with my shoulders weighed down,

Sometimes it’s so much I fear I might drown.

Afraid of this and afraid of that,

At times it’s too much for me to choke back.

Always scared to take the next step,

But this time my move will be without misstep.

I will move on from the depth of my past

And fight back because this day will not be my last.
