Stripped Down
Stripped down to nothingness
I am empty now
Void of any sense of purpose
With hands tied above my head
I am naked and exposed
Feeling ashamed and humiliated
Here for you to pick apart
You'll find nothing now of worth
I gave that all away
With trust and eagerness
Only to end up here
So go on, throw your stones at me
Beat me until I am bloodied and bruised
But what is it you have really proved?

Wow! It really says so much in such few lines! The feeling of being vulnerable and exposed, the cruelty and bitterness of the society, nothing more to say!
Wonderful poem Shannon, you are a great poet
And I think that all the other Hubbers feel the same
Blessings and hugs dear friend
I am back to feel the harshness of your words in your hub. The truth behind a real cruel world at times. How can we overcome? How do we rise above? If we have a strong inner power nobody can ever topple us. It gives us strength and power so that we can withstand any human insults and harm. Thank you again for sharing your incredible thoughts.
A deeply moving, and powerful poem. I understand this feeling too well. Writing is what has helped me to keep my sanity, and senses- what I have left, anyway. Well thank you for sharing such a descriptive piece, and helping me to see that when I feel this way, I am not alone.

Very deep feelings I think we all have been there at one time or another. I am positive I don't like that time or place in my life and I wouldn't want my friends to be there either. Always good to vent and share. What a good choice of words that explain a lot.

We've all felt this at one time or another. You describe the vulnerability, emptiness, and shame well.
That's how I end up feeling most the time. Nothing left to give.
Wonderful poem.
Most creative and very expressive. Your poetic words certainly speak the truth. Great choice of video.
You really are a good poet Shanmarie. I think this expresses despair quite descriptively.
Very cool. This reminds me of that great line from Janis Joplin: Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.
Great poem and love that song I have not heard in years!
Raw....honest.....gritty....painful....I think they all apply, and that means brilliant writing.
Mmmmm....Don't worry, I will get you clothes again.
