Step It up and Out

Author:

Keep Moving

No time to think

On the run

So little done

Eat and go

There is so much more to say

I have to hold it for another day

The weather is cool and the sun is bright

I am eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a pear

A glass of milk

Off to work

A quick kiss for my wife

I am thinking ahead

I have to stop for gas and a quick pick for the lottery

It is well over 600 million

A chance of a lifetime

For now, we do what we must

I made the bed and read a little of a book

The wash is done and the toilet is clean

Another day and another dream

Peggy Woods If I keep moving forward no matter how small a step it may be it will definitely be better than I was before. Life is full of change. Some changes we like and embrace and other times we have no choice to accept and make it work. The lottery didn't pay off in a win. It did help me realize some important thoughts and how other people think. Back to hard work and dreaming more dreams. Thank you for all your kind thoughts and comments. Have a nice night.

You seem to stay very busy. Good luck with the lottery and your dreams.

Audrey Hunt I love to write and pour my heart out. What better way than to anyone who needs a little pick me up or something to think about. The New Year has so much opportunity and excitement in the air. Unfortunately, there is the Pandemic and many people don't have jobs. I was wondering how things are going for you? I work at a restaurant that has managed to stay open and it is busy still. Most days I am so happy to have a job. Then once awhile I think wouldn't it have been nice to be off for three months and collect. I wonder would or could I write so much more or would I get lazy and forget writing altogether. I don't know how people are surviving with no work. Especially, if you have a big family. My heart goes out to everyone who has had a really hard time since March last year. That is such a long time to try to make a living. Thank you so much for sharing. I will keep trying to write more. Every comment is just enough to keep pushing to one more story/poem I like to call them stoems.(lol) My touch of creativity in the end. Have a beautiful morning.

DW Davis I wouldn't mind if it was only once and a while. It happens too often. So I have to turn off my motor or put myself in neutral and sit idle. This way I can enjoy more and do less. It is never a happy medium. I am hoping with practice one day it will be. Thank you for your special comments. They keep me writing. If you have found any tricks or suggestions I am always open to new ways of slowing down? Have a great day. I just caught myself in a white lie on my days off I play catch up but by then there are other things that have to be taken care of too. It is sometimes priority and other times a flip of a coin. Let chance or lady luck be the deciding factor.

During this time of turmoil, we must keep going and keep busy. Sounds like this is just what you're doing, my friend. Keep it up!

DW Davis from Eastern NC on January 15, 2021:

Your poem replicates the feeling I have as I rush through each day with no time to enjoy the things around me.
