Stealing Lovely Caroline

Kenneth has a taste for abstract/prose poetry as well as the comical side of life. 23-years of writing for a newspaper has served him well.

Jaded dragon

Jaded dragon

Scorpions shallow wallow by the well
Licking sticking tongues telling dark tales.
Honeybee sting sermons will ring
Lovely Caroline ceases to sing.

Gladiola warriors with jagged glass swords
Battle ten swarms of dragonflies endless hordes.
Lions growl a loving moan seeking the hungry bone
Sleeping diseases escaping then dying alone.

Oh, subtle dragon with eyes of ash
Kings, queens and princess in sash.
How'd I get here, I issue my plea
Why am I not me, but a stranger in me?

Icy grease demons sting innocent crows
Turning one against another laying still by rows.
Crumbs of fate and rotting iron gate
Sighing with love and killing their fate.

Lovely Caroline now wakes to her tea
Silently sipping eyelash flashes to me.
She is his betrothed, his mate I see
Upon no journey or escape she sees.

Then jaded dragons rise to hold court
Taking control o'er mankind's weak sort.
Speaking in rocky truth they stand so pure
Angry and arrogant their servants demure.

I dream no more while choking the core
Under blue waves and touching her door.
Muted songs she'll hear today
Jaded dragons blink forever we stay.
