My name is Jamie Lee Hamann and I started writing poetry on Hubpages back in 2013. Every year I share a poem a day in April.
State of Nevada Limerick
There is a place where the flower is sage
a place where insect and Quail engage
in the desert they fight
for a chance and the right
to keep living till their old age.
There is a place where the sky remains blue
where the horizon is plain and true
wide open desert land
where birds of prey look grand
memories of wing span where they flew.
There is Red Canyon in Nevada
outside Vegas home to Sinatra
a vast maze of red rock
an incredible walk
similar to canyons in Utah.
We paddle onto clear Lake Tahoe
or the muddy water of Washoe
either way we will dunk
for our summer spelunk
for a swim when the heat gets us low.
