Strangled Hope

Updated on February 20, 2018

If you've ever lived through a very dark time (haven't we all?) then you know the exhausting push and pull of light vs. darkness. The struggle and immense strength it takes to inch painfully towards the light, only to be swallowed by the darkness once again, in one big gulp.

She's weak but she's strong

She's brains but not brawn

Free as a kite

But bound to the night

Emptiness flies

Through suicide eyes

As black velvet fear

Lingers near

To crack her soul

And swallow her whole

As vines of frustration strangle her hope

Vines as thick as the seaman's rope

Weave and twist and intertwine

Invade her heart, her soul, her spine

So as quickly as it had begun

The war for her strength and her light had been won

Beautiful poetry Angela. Keep the spirits high, that's the way to find hope.
