Speed Up Part 2

Inspired by "Speed Up", a song by Kay Sade

They told me that I should speed up

Like I wasn’t real enough to keep up.

Like I lacked the intellect to read up.

Like I lacked common knowledge,

I needed to re-up.

I was going through life.

They tried to make me see

That I was doing pretty bad,

Like they were better than me.

I could have been a songwriter.

I could have dated Brooke.

I could have played chess.

I guess I really like the rooks.

I could have been a lyricist.

I still leave them shook.

My poetry is like a song.

That’s one for the books.

The thought process goes:

“How can they please us?”

Why can’t we all

Just focus on Jesus?

He gave us all life.

He completes us.

You know, one day

He’ll see us.

I do what I do for

It’s dedication.

My motivation.

This world’s crazy.

I need a vacation.

All this deflation.

Save immigration.

This country’s unfair.

It’s an inflammation

Of all the wrong leaders

That like degradation.

I thought we were free.

Where’s the Declaration?

The ice is melting

Where’s the conservation?

I told this world to slow down.

They speed up.

They don’t realize

They can’t keep up

With these rash decisions

That’ll lead up

To our own demise.

I need a teacup.

I got all these people

Looking at me.

My crush called me “ugly”.

It wasn’t meant to be.

I worship God.

These people worship

I thought they were friends.

They were really friends.

She said,

“I’m cute,

A little frame on me.”

I got two college degrees

Put a frame on ‘em.

My accomplishments

Got my name on ‘em.

People expose themselves.

No shame on ‘em.

Once again.

These people told me

To speed up.

Looks like I’m ahead.

They couldn’t keep up.

I’ve written so much.

I don’t need to re-up.
