Capturing Those Moments

Updated on October 7, 2019

Lorna is a published writer with a particular interest in narrative poetry, which she finds therapeutic.

Daylight streaming through the window

Whispering gently across my face

A moment unfolding and evolving

Transcending time and space

Rays of ethereal sunbeams

Dust motes dancing within their arms

Creating a moment of simplicity

Fully aware of its charms

Losing the moment of deep regret

Those feelings should not go unsaid

Value the hope of a second chance

Creating memories of happiness instead

There is always a moment to still the mind

When those fears and doubts fall away

As you harness the strength of a battle won

Acknowledging the importance of today

Savouring each moment as it comes

Acknowledging your truth within each one

Dance in the raindrops, smile at the sun

Capture the joy of a race well run

Live in the present, the past is gone

There is so much we just can’t control

Our life can never be measured by time

Only by the moments we create in our soul

        Wonderful poem Lorna.

I remember a saying I heard at a group therapy session.

        Yesterday is history

        Tomorrow is a mystery

        Just live in the day

'Only by the moments we create in our soul', there is some magic in the lines. Life depends all on such moments my dear, some are sweet and some are tragic. But this is what life endeavours for all of us.

A great read, thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your kind comments Prantika. We can only ever learn from the past and it is not always easy to let go, however, it can be made easier by learning to live moment by moment.

We tend to dwell more in the past than living in the present. We are, therefore, losing moments- moments to create happiness. Moving on maybe always not easy but moving forward is important. It's a wonderful poem and am touched. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful poem.

Yes, Lorna we look back to the past only to understand our mistakes and take life lessons so that we do not make the same mistakes again. Your poem reminds us that we should feel happy living moment to moment. Thank you for sharing with us a wonderful, lovely poem.

Absolutely beautiful! Yes, we must live for the moment and not dwell on the past too much, though that's easier said than done sometimes. There is no point as we can't change what's already gone.

This is full of hope and sunshine!

        Ann
