Son of My Son...

Author:

The Tree of Life ...

son-of-my-son

Oh -- this rounded heart ...

You have made so well complete.

Your fragile sound

Of sweet, lyrical innocence

Tenders the eye

And renews the soul.

Son of my son,

You hold a bounding, encircling love

With such tiny, soft hands.

Smiling, you press your cheek to mine

And the adagio sings.

In these tenuous, fleeting of moments

Nothing shall ever be as humbling or joyous.

Such are the gifts

From the miracle of your life.

Thank you, Kim! It's always a pleasure to see you...I'm just sorry I'm late. You have much joy to look forward to. :-)

Genna,

I am so jealous! How I look forward to joy of grandchildren. Your little Graham is a doll baby and your poem captures the beauty of such a sacred occasion. For the time being, I must be content with my grand kitty and a grand puppy. Smiles.

Blessings Always,

Kim

What an ingenious poem! A beautiful tribute to your adorable grandson. You must be enjoying Graham so very much. I just want to reach right through my screen and pick him up and hug him. Love his smile. Precious Moments. Hugs.

Genna East (author) from Massachusetts, USA on March 31, 2018:

Hi Peg and Nikki...

Good to see you both. I appreciate your thoughts on this poem, and Graham. As I wrote to Bill below, he is like no one else -- spontaneous and so happy, with an innate sense of caring for others that is remarkable at such an early age. Thank you. :-)

Genna East (author) from Massachusetts, USA on March 31, 2018:

Hi Nell...

My apologies in that I didn't receive an email telling me you had commented. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm working six days a week with my new job, and don't know "which end is up" these days. :-( Hugs to you, for that lovely comment. And thank you for the visit.

Nikki Khan from London on March 31, 2018:

Aww so cute Graham is :)

And poem is so sweet as his beautiful smile is.

Bless him!

Peg Cole from Northeast of Dallas, Texas on March 31, 2018:

Hi Paula...

My apologies for not responding earlier, but sometimes I don't get all of the emails on the comments that have been posted to a hub. :-( Thank you for the visit and for those kind thoughts. Graham is my heart...this little guy is special. I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Suzie from Carson City on February 07, 2018:

- Shauna Bowling

Thanks, so much, Shauna. You will experience this as well, I know. There is so much to look forward to, my friend. :-)

- Bill Holland

Thank you, Bill for those kind words. He is like no one else. He will be in the middle of playing, then stop suddenly, and come over to you to lay his head gently on your lap or press his cheek next to yours for a few moments, then smile, and return to his playing.

-Mckbirdbks

Hi Mike. He is quite an inspiration. :-) It's not my best poem, but I wrote this in a few minutes as the words flooded into my thoughts. As I commented to Frank, it's probably too sentimental for HP, but I wrote it anyway, without any pondering. Thank you for that nice comment.

- Flourish Anyway

Thank you. I agree....and I already have, my friend. I only hope it doesn't embarrass him.

- Peg Cole

Thank you. He makes the writing quite easy.

Genna East (author) from Massachusetts, USA on February 01, 2018:

- Frank Atanacio

Hi Frank...

Thank you. I wrote this very quickly; perhaps too quickly as it may be too sentimental for HP. Good to see you. :-)

- RTalioni:

Thank you. I just saw your poem about your grandson. There is something in the air, my friend, that inspires us to write of these cherished little ones.

- Hari

Life is indeed a bubble; and these cherished little ones occupy a dear place within. Thanks for that sweet comment.

- Peggy Woods

An indescribable joy, Peg. I appreciate the visit and kind thoughts.

- Verlie Burroughs

Hi there. Thank you! :-) This little fellow inspires.

- Maria Jordan

I am grateful for that lovely comment, Maria. I hope you are enjoying your week.

Peg Cole from Northeast of Dallas, Texas on February 01, 2018:

Sweet and lovely expressions of joy. The baby is adorable.

FlourishAnyway from USA on January 31, 2018:

What a beautiful love poem for your grandson. He’s a gorgeous little boy. Your poem is so tender that perhaps you should write it in your own handwriting with a note to pass down to him.

mckbirdbks from Emerald Wells, Just off the crossroads,Texas on January 31, 2018:

Hello Genna - You found inspiration and inspiration found you. Your poem denotes the young, innocent love of a child very well. So much joy flows in your direction from this young fellow. Glad to see you publish.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on January 31, 2018:

The poem made me smile. The picture of that young man made my heart smile. Such unbridled joy...such love...so many possibilities in a life yet lived. Thank you for sharing with us, my friend.
