I live a few miles from the ocean, with my husband and our 3 boys. I always make an effort to spread kindness and light wherever I go.

This was written for a very dear loved one who suffered with addiction and alcoholism her entire life. We were celebrating one year sober - an incredible milestone on an extremely difficult journey.

Congratulations on one year!

One year of the real you being here.

Not that you weren't here before,

But now you're in your very best form.

You were an angry girl with endless tears.

Now you're happy and conquer your fears.

No only that, but now you can see

The extent of the love from your family.

What was fuzzy, is now clear

What seemed distant, is now near

What was bad, somehow seems better.

Though you get sad, you're happier than ever.

I'm glad you brought yourself out of that cave.

You've been so strong and incredibly brave.

There is something that you need to know -

And you'd better believe that it is so.

There's nothing that we wouldn't do

To make your every dream come true.

Your true self has appeared, at long last.

So turn and keep your back to the past.

The future holds wonderful things

For the angel with the invisible wings.
