Security wraps you up in warmth,
Caresses away pain and worry.
Throws you into the air to fly.
And you soar with grace and freedom,
Looking down without fear or hesitation.
The air cool and calming pressed against you.
Being up so high, you forget what pain is.
And you realize the fall would break you,
The panic begins to set in.
You suddenly realize how fragile your situation is,
How vulnerable you have made yourself.
But you should feel secure, right?
The fear comes rolling back in like a thick fog.
You suddenly wish you had a parachute,
Something to catch you, when they no longer do.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on January 01, 2020:
Absolutely...we forget how much the pain can hurt us when we fall.
They don't always catch us and the pain sets in usually more than the last time.
It's nice feeling so high...secure with all going on, but when you fall it hurts deeply.
