Snake Charmers at High Places: A Poem
This fascination started at our early age
with all those looking somehow higher
to furnish all props for our life stage
starring a biggie, pretender, or liar.
All those at high and unreachable places
somehow dictate respect, envy, even fear
looking down on us with their sneering faces
and yet deserving all our applauses and cheer.
Is it a musical idol, or a political charmer
or even a boss with that intimidating power
taking us for an ordinary and illiterate farmer
with no accessible stairwell to their ivory tower.
Why are we falling in that crazy trap
for they all live of our donated buck
could we ignore that high elite crap
and work on creating our own luck.
Those at high places enjoy what they've got
we don't have to clap at anyone's parade
so let's focus on improving our own lot
without all that butt-kissing charade.
