Smiling in Your Face

They see you from afar and wave
Yet secretly wish you were in your grave
Fronting and attention-seeking is what they crave
Running across the room to give you a hug
Really wanting to squash you like a bug
The phoniness makes you want to say ugh
In front of others oh how they pretend
With the false message they attempt to send
As if they were truly a loving friend
You wish there was somewhere you could hide
Fake smile, phony hug God knows they lied
Because the Facebook friend request you sent was denied

What a dilemma! So much effort put into deceiving one's self. Content well-presented.

We really don't need people like this in our lives. Great message within this clever and thought provoking poem Cheryl. I enjoyed reading it.

Yes, we've all met those and sometimes fallen foul of them. In the end they lose, as most people see through them. Unfortunately it can take a long time and can cause suffering. You've presented a deep message in so few words. Well crafted.
