Shell Shock

I have been writing poetry, fiction and short stories for many years and have completed a book of poems. I also enjoy comedy writing.

Shell Shock

Shell Shock

Guns shot

Bombs drop

Nerves pop

Shell Shock

Soldiers Quiver

Guts and Liver

Governments Richer

Families bitter

Bullets in Brain

Imagination insane

Swollen vein

Vigorous pain

Shell shock vets

Mothers wept

Cities Wrecked

Freedom swept

Moon still glows

Poverty still grows

No friends, much foes

White flags and trumpet blows

Evil at front, goodness at back

Who will help those

That have become shell shock?

You ask a great question Clive. War is awful and it goes on and on. You wrote a good poem.
