She Held the Moon in Her Hands

She held the moon in her hands

Wonder danced in her eyes

Possibility as big as her imagination

For if illusions can be so grand

Yet also seem so full of life

There is ample room for amplification

Of the light held in her hands

Hypnotize the Moon - Clay Walker

Thanks, Brenda! Nothing like a little youthful inspiration, is thee?

Wonderful poem.

It is awesome when someone can really enjoy their life, not letting anything get in the way.

Big dreams, never losing hope of the possibility.

Great write.

Shannon, although very few words are utilized, your poem has the power to take each reader to their own unique place.

I was also drawn in by the title. Love the sentiment and inspiration conveyed by your words. Very good poem.

Shannon Henry (author) from Texas on January 15, 2019:

Thanks, John. Funny that I can do that so well in a poem and am generally rather long-winded elsewhere. Earlier this afternoon, I came across a picture here on HP in the newsfeed that first inspired me. I immediately felt a sense of wonder and then thought of the picture I snapped of my daughter a few years ago as she reached for the moon. Just like that, a poem was born. Fifteen minutes tops.

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on January 15, 2019:

Shannon, the title drew me in. You always manage to say all you need to in so few words. Not everyone can do that. Good poem, and very fitting song by Clay Walker.
