Shattered in Pieces
Cheryl enjoys writing poetry related to her personal faith in Christ and the things she had observed in life.
Hit with a sucker punch
Right out of left field
Didn't see it coming
But felt the power it did yield
The stinging the burning
Excruciating pain
Because I let you back
Into my life again
Struck so hard
I lost all perspective
Weak and unable
To be totally objective
Shattered into a million pieces
Yet you emerged unscathed
I trusted you and once again
I find myself enslaved

There is an old saying "it's better the second time around" but I noticed that wasn't the case there, Cheryl. LOL Sometimes we learn the hard way "to every rule there's an exception to the rule including the rule there is an exception to it," if that poem is true in your case, you became the exception. LOL
I really enjoyed reading it.

A powerful poem which describes how difficult it is to overcome addiction. Great writing Cheryl.
