Setting Paradise On Its Ear

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida. .

You and I were like skyrockets,
coming together so much in love,
laughter often ruled the day -
so much love to share.
Instinctively we knew that there was much to delight,
but life cannot always be just fun and games,
so together we build a life for two.
When you left me,
I knew you would want me by your side,
when the time came,
we learned that I stil had an earthly path to follow,
but I knew you'd watch over me,
so on my way, I went,
knowing that one day we'd together be.
Dancing, laughing, playing, -
setting paradise on ii's ear.
But paradise need not fear,
I am sure we will have our days of tears,
remembering all that on earth we shared
and loving each other through all eternity.

Thank you, Shauna. Yes, the palms are what I see when I step out on my second story front porch.

I often use the same word for many of your poems, Rasma. "Beautiful"...this is no exception. The video is a perfect accompaniment as well.

Shauna L Bowling from Central Florida on May 18, 2021:

Great poem, Rasma. I have a few of those palms in my back yard. Did you take the photo?
