Set Apart: A poem about One Night Stands

Paul is an Engineer. A graduate from a Catholic University. A rebel and a romantic...

Angels saw what took place tonight
Temptation came... I did not fight
Desires and fantasies ignite
Sin arose under the moon light.

Just the other day I confessed
That sin for years left unaddressed.
Head bowed....I made my repentance
And I begged for God's acceptance.
I promised God I'd give it up
But here I am again undressed;
Ignoring hell that's burning up.

I pretend to have no regrets
Each time I'd give in to the flesh.
Deep inside, I hope God forgets
And He lets me begin afresh.

In the end you're weary and poor
The one night stand lost its lure
To loneliness it's not a cure.
I'm asking God for a detour.
I'm tired of living a life impure.

You made my heart with your own hands
So it's frailties you understand,
Make my heart obey your commands
And resist the devil's demands.

The season of sin must now end;
To the Living Word I shall bend.
That snake will never be your friend;
To Hell it wants you to descend.
