Letting go of toxic people in your life is a big step in loving yourself.
-- Hussein Nishah
Today a welcome guest
as if you've finally got your turn
but don't call tomorrow not to be a pest
maybe time has come for something to learn.
Seasonal friend, like disposable tissue
serves purpose to be promptly dropped
after relieving someone's personal issue
it's a friendship that gets abruptly stopped.
Like a tossed and still burning cigarette butt
and swearing never again to be anyone's fool
but that's something you so oftentimes forgot
for, here you go again flunking at that school.
Now you may try harder to stick to that heart
as if proving to yourself how you're worth more
but again everything turns out not to be so smart
for nothing is happening that didn't happen before,
Well, call yourself an orange, or apple, maybe pear
but always be patient for your season to come
in the meantime pretend that you don't care
as long as you can see it just a little dumb.
Remember you're seasonal shoulder for crying
not someone who's been treated as a friend
unless you can find your role as satisfying
playing someone who can understand.
You surely are not finding a secret gain
in having advantage of one not messed
so there is nothing there left to complain
about that being merely a seasonal guest.
I have been there more often than I could recall
like some mental Mother Theresa, that was I
to some spirits who came down to a crawl
until I got bored from that ridiculous lie.
