Self - Esteem: A Rhyme with Message

Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.

I care for myself. The more solitary, the more friendless, the more unsustained I am, the more I will respect myself.

-- Charlotte Bronte

At times it may not be easy to notice self-esteem

because it's not something that people advertise

but we value ourselves more than it may seem

not wearing a price tag, for that being too wise.

Loving ourselves is what we have to do

warts-and-the-rest -- nothing to leave out

even personal flaws, if they are one or two

but a big deal, it's not what self-love is about.

It's just great to feel at home in our own skin

not like wearing an unsightly and dirty shirt

interacting never to be game of lose or win

or dragging others' importance through dirt.

Living by the Golden Rule of "Live and let live"

we make all of our relationships a smooth sail

it's got to be always based on take and give

and then everything else that it may entail.

We may not be equal by our talents and skill

and yet each one is equal as a human being

ego's parade makes us phony as 3-dollar bill

a personal importance that's not worth seeing.

At final day of life we are all a beggar and a king

leaving all importance and possessions behind

and all that's left of us is but one single thing

memory about us in others' heart and mind.
