Satirizing My Own Writing: A Rhyme to Entertain
Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.
A modern philosopher who has never once suspected himself of being a charlatan must be such a shallow mind that his work is probably not worth reading.
-- Leszek Kolakowski
As I am satirizing my own writing
it's a sort of my fun in its own right
and often I may find it quite exciting
with each humorously merciless bite.
Wondering now if reading my rhyme
or any other piece of smart-ass crap
is really worthy of your precious time
or boring enough to inspire for a nap.
Look at these lines often wordy and so long
as I struggle to squeeze into them too much
hoping that few may succeed to come strong
if not to make impact, but good for a soft touch.
That's what happens when real talent is at lack
and some silly imitations try to replace a true art
for no practice can ever do to produce writing knack
so it's all not more than just a pastime of an aging fart.
I can imagine, when you compare your own work
how my crap makes it a true masterpiece of a sort
whereas my scribbling is just deserving a pitiful smirk
though you just won't say it -- while being a good sport.
Well, just let me go on with my literary dream
because I am also leaving your own intact
we've got to support others' self-esteem
while my own doesn't really ask for tact.
