Sankhajit Bhattacharjee Poem 90

Scientific Research Fellow in University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee

Without breaking I make rules

to exist, to survive.

I was in search of some fuel

that will keep my life engine alive.

I am an ever-dynamic man-

I have divorced ‘static’, ‘stable’, ‘stationary’ and ‘stagnant’ forever.

Neither any superhuman nor any sacred book could satisfy me for long-

only small ripples were generated on the surface of this river.

I roamed and roamed in vain, like a weary traveler

once I took shelter under a banyan tree.

Piercing the century’s darkest clouds

my senses caught the eternal voice of poetry.

Punching back at the pale face of utter restlessness

I welcomed the delightful new morn.

In the heart of my verse

my life, thoughts and actions were reborn.

The harness of this horse and the compass of this ship

will guide my way, help me to advance along the right course,

prevent me to go astray

and escort me towards forever betterment ignoring all worse.

Every poem of yours that I've read has given me pause. Wonderful imagery throughout and the sense of longing is palpable throughout.
