Sankhajit Bhattacharjee Poem 3
Scientific Research Fellow in University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee
THE REAL PAYMENT
An invitation came from outside
for my senior.
Suddenly both of his kidneys stopped activity-
the disturbance was major.
Enough money was collected
as the flame of candle was about to extinguish.
I would denote one kidney-
his mother’s only wish.
The operation was successful,
both are now fine.
The recovered man is doing a job here,
trying hard to shine.
In front of him a huge door was shut up forever-
now his statement:
‘Will I ever get such a scope,
ever receive the real payment’?
