Sankhajit Bhattacharjee Poem 235

Scientific Research Fellow in University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee

A New Bond

'Why do you behave with me in such a manner?

Don't you feel ashamed'?

'You are not fit to receive good behavior.

We three are friends, you are an outsider'.

Theory defines,

'Friendship is as holy as a temple-

the froth of difference is washed away by

the breath of equality'.

'It's a day dream', Chanakya argued,

'friends should belong to same level,

otherwise harmony of life would become restless'.

The stars emit light, the sun is a star;

when the sun rises, morning creeps in

but a starry night can never be

equivalent to a delightful dawn.

I was climbing high, then going down,

now I am standing on the plain

and looking for a new bond.
