Sankhajit Bhattacharjee Poem 150

Scientific Research Fellow in University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee

Change in the ruler only

can never change the fate of the ruled

until and unless the system is changed

as it induces the ruler to act according to its will

and one surrenders in front of its diplomatic pressure.

I’m a common man,

I witness the sufferings of the poor and middle lower class.

I’ve no enmity with any leader or party,

the faulty system is my enemy

but I never know how to deal with

and I lose my way in midst of the winding lanes.

74 years have been passed-

the malefic prop roots have penetrated deep into the soil.

Who will uproot them?

The mission seems to be impossible.

I sit under a banyan tree with wet eyes and a gloomy face,

I can hear my deep breathing and heartbeat…
