Response to "Word Prompts Help Creativity ~ Week 34 (Habits) - "Habits"; “Witch's Spell ~ Strong Desire" & "Virtue"

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Summary of Poems

Response to "Word Prompts Help Creativity ~ Week 34 (Habits) - "Habits"; “Witch's Spell ~ Strong Desire" & "Virtue" is what my muse came up with from the word prompt, "Habits."

There are three poems.

My acrostic poem "Habits" shows us how habits become a strong desire we can't shake.

"Witch's Spell ~ Strong Desire" tells us how a habit feels like we are under a spell for we have no control.

"Virtue" tells us how someone can have a lot of wonderful habits with good and moral values, but can still get angry and release a bad one.

Hard to stop

Automatic gestures

Behavior we do regularly

Impacting our daily life

Taking control over us

Strong desire we can’t shake.

Witch's Spell ~ Strong Desire

There are days she wishes

she didn’t want that morning puff

but as the hands on the clock pass

she feels the need to take that hit.

With a Bic lighter in her hand

she grabs that roll your own cigarette

lighting the end like there’s no tomorrow

taking that smooth tasting drag

then exhaling with a big relief.

Those certain times of the day

nag at her constantly

like a ghostly warning

until she gives in

like she is under some kind of spell

releasing the witch’s magic.

She can’t walk pass a kitty

without speaking gibberish cat talk

or spoiling it like a little tot.

Nor utter the words “No"

when someone needs a helping hand,

despite the time it takes.

She writes those checks each month

paying her bills by the due date,

not a moment late.

She sees good in all,

never meeting a stranger

as she finds a kind word or two to speak.

She has a tremendous flare

for using good behavior,

unless someone crosses her.

Then her angel ways disappear

and all hell breaks loose,

with the one habit

no one wants to witness.

The best way to stop a bad habit is to never begin it.
