Brenda Arledge has provided once again provided us with a prompt. This is the twentieth prompt, which is 'regret'. This is not a happy term, so it seemed we should write a poem about how regret feels to us.

Acrostic Poem

Repentant after our sad result

Every decision we carefully weigh

Grieving when we make mistakes

Results are always here to stay

Endlessly learning another lesson

To a better future thus we pray

Sad Song - Lauren Daigle

Regret

Regrets happen with mistakes

Rage can sometimes overtake

Missed opportunities cause regret

We must try living without strife

We learn new lessons in our life

As we age we see more truth

Trust the Lord with all your heart

Wonderful poems Pamela. A good response to Brenda's word prompt. Yes there's no point in having regrets. We should learn from our mistakes and move on. As we age we become wise. It is best to trust the Lord. Thanks for sharing.

Pamela Oglesby (author) from Sunny Florida on July 07, 2021:

Hi Swati,

I love your attitude about regret as at least we tried should make us feel good. We should always learn from our mistakes.

Thank you so much for your comments.

Swati Sharma from India on July 07, 2021:

A beautiful poem by you.

We should learn from our mistakes, not regret, but still many people do not try for the next because of regret. Mistakes are made by those who try, that's why we should be proud that at least we tried.

Pamela Oglesby (author) from Sunny Florida on July 07, 2021:

Hi Brenda,

I started the poem yesterday and didn't know if I would finish. I thought this was a more difficult prompt, so I am glad I could meet the challenge.

I love that song also. I am glad you like the poems. I always appreciate your helpful and nice comments.

Pamela Oglesby (author) from Sunny Florida on July 07, 2021:

Hi Peggy,

I do not have any regrets at this time of my life. I think life is to short to focus on regrets and as you said we learn as we get older.

I am glad you liked the poems, and I appreciate your comments.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on July 07, 2021:

We do learn as we get olders. I liked your response to Brenda's prompt of regrets. Hopefully, you do not have many of them.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on July 07, 2021:

Pamela

I'm so happy to see you were able to do this one before your trip.

In your acrostic poem you show us how making mistakes leaves us feeling remorseful.

Yet we move forward hoping we've learned our lesson and won't repeat it in our future.

I love your song by Lauren Daigle.

In your poem, "Regret" you tell us that when we make mistakes or miss opportunities we can become angry & overcome with regret.

We must live our life without conflict.

Gain wisdom from our mistakes & learn new ways for as we age the truth becomes clearer.

We should trust in the Lord to guide us.

These are wonderful!

I will post a link in the article.

Hi Bill,

I hear what you are saying, and I agree. Life is too short to dwell on regrets.

I'm glad you enjoyed the words, and I appreciate your remarks.

Happy Wednesday to you also!

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on July 07, 2021:

Regret is not a word I use. Regret means you haven't tried at all. To regret is to join the human race and make an effort. Sometimes we fail; sometimes we are victorious. It's all good for this old man. :) As always, I enjoyed your words and thoughts. Happy Wednesday, my friend.

Pamela Oglesby (author) from Sunny Florida on July 07, 2021:

Hi Chitrangada,

I do think regret is a hard prompt to write about, and I thought maybe a story would be more appropriate. However, i came up with these two poems. We learn from mistakes, so I don't spend time regretting decisions either.

I always appreciate you nice comments. I hope you have a happy day too.

Pamela Oglesby (author) from Sunny Florida on July 07, 2021:

Experiences in life are always both good and bad. We do learn from our mistakes.

Nice poems on the word prompt, Regret.

I liked reading both your poems. Honestly, I find this word prompt challenging. Because, I don’t believe in regretting. So, not sure about what to write.

It’s good to see that you have conveyed the message well, and met the challenge with ease.

Thank you for sharing. Wish you a happy day.

Pamela Oglesby (author) from Sunny Florida on July 07, 2021:

Hi John,

I thought this was a tougher prompt too. I imagine you will come up with something uniques, as you always do.

Thank you for your nice comments.

manatita44 from london on July 07, 2021:

I thought you did a great job Brenda. It does not read like a heavy chore and again, we all make mistakes. The soul grows through experience and unfortunately, it's a part of the journey. Our Lord is merciful indeed!

Great acrostic piece and finished with a wonderful poem with thoughts to reflect upon. Wonderful!!

Pamela Oglesby (author) from Sunny Florida on July 07, 2021:
