Record Liner Notes

I can't seem to stop writing poetry or reading poetry. I think it is safe to say I love poetry and I love sharing great poetry with others.

Record Liner Notes

Once there was a musician who wanted to lead a band.

So he set out to put one together.

Musically it was quite good.

But it failed.

A dynamic personality reaching out

the Philharmonic plays "A Magical Mood'

turning on a non-stop Calypso spout.

Musician, a Scottish Piper and Drummer, crude

melodies that will live for centuries

orchestra's on dusty turntable's etude.

To hear a modern reading of Oscar Wilde's 'Miseries"

there is only one manner to describe the readings of Robert Frost

his voice is heard on scratched album of his litanies.

To touch heart and soul of people but at what cost

our musicians free wheelin' swingers bringing the color

some New Orleans Jazz to remind us what was lost.

In this album he has recorded with the very men

with whom he always works.

These were not a collection of studio musicians

gathered together to back a great artist.

These are the men best suited to capture the "Soul."

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on April 04, 2021:

A poem capturing the essence of how music of the soul began.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on April 04, 2021:

You reminded me of how excited I was to read the liner notes when a new album would come out. Great way to pass a few minutes, and it added to the apprehension and excitement of listening to the record.

Anyway, wishing you a very Happy Easter!

Umesh Chandra Bhatt from Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, India on April 04, 2021:

Interesting composition.

Ann Carr from SW England on April 04, 2021:

Can't find it in the feed, so I hope you don't mind me commenting here instead, but I love your poem 'I Want a House';. It sums up all the possibilities of what a house and home can provide - loved it!

It's good to see your poetry again.

Ann Carr from SW England on April 04, 2021:

What great poetry! I love how you've used the cuttings to inspire you.

The men capturing the soul - indeed!

manatita44 from london on April 04, 2021:

I love the clippings and yes, Frost did capture the soul. Lovely work!
