Preface

In a blind race for scientific development and modernisation, we have done much harm to the mother nature and polluted the environment in various ways. Now to save the humanity and future generations from the threat of extinction each of us have to contribute in our own humble ways for bringing back the environment to its earlier glory. Mother nature had given us much for our survival and happiness and it is time to pay back the dues to it with due respect and regards. Though many agencies in government as well as private sector are engaged in revitalisation and rebuilding the environment with good practices, still a lot of awareness is to be inculcated in many parts of the world specially the remote and interior places where natural resources are in plenty and people are to be told and inspired to conserve them.

It is of course the duty of every Earth dweller to think and ponder for environment rebuilding and join with the like minded people for taking a joint action in the matter.

This string of haiku poems is created with that sort of inspiration only. Please share your feelings about concerns for our habitat.

A string of haikus

1. Repaying nature

Nature gave us much,

We have to repay it now,

Find some more ways, how?

2. Clean air and greenry

I long for clean air,

In the whole atmosphere around,

With greenry abound.

3. Supreme duty

Sustaining the nature,

Is our duty most supreme,

That is the only dream.

4. Reconstruction

Let us reconstruct,

Our past life of golden age,

To build an environmental craze.

5. Final efforts

Can't we do it then,

With all our concerted efforts,

Relinquishing the deserts.

I share your thoughts about the habitat. I see more and more green space disappearing. Light, noise, and air pollution. Occasionally it makes me somber.

Jay, very correct, reducing population is a practical measure. I agree that it is the need of the hour. Thanks for your visit. Appreciate.

Reduce human population to a sustainable level with Family Planning. Vasectomies anyone?

I was just thinking about this the other day, how we are mistreating Nature and how it can ever recover from all the daily harm. I hope we wake up before reaching a point of no return. I hope your message increases awareness about this important problem.

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on October 06, 2020:

Umesh, thank you for highlighting the need to protect and restore nature and the environment in this collection. It is the responsibility of us all.
