Quacks and Other Phonies: A Poem
I have seen a shrink at the end of her rope
and a heart medico fat as he shouldn't be
also a guru who didn't inspire much hope
and a hypnotist who couldn't impress me.
There were others, like a self-called preacher
who didn't show much faith for all that believing
as well as an eloquent physical fitness teacher
who later got so obese it was beyond forgiving.
It's reminding of critics of something they couldn't do
and armchair philosophers who never read a book
along with newsman who don't say anything new
or cosmeticians who couldn't improve their look.
I know you have seen many of that kind
and if I missed politicians that was a mistake
with their colorful types now crowding my mind
so let them represent the icing on top of the cake.
Of all phonies politicians are champs
masters of deceit, and regulars at perjury
and it doesn't matter what they call their camp
I trust them as I would trust a butcher with my surgery.
