Political Climber: A Satirical Poem
Likened to an ugly creature
from a make-belief fairy story
is this spineless boasting preacher
all wrapped up in a glamour and glory.
Preaching about his enviable status
mincing self-importance in his greedy jaws
a long string of successes without any hiatus
impressing his audiences and skipping any pause.
He's ready to swallow mountains of lies
and that by only one condition untold
that his fabrications of an equal size
be accepted like some rhetoric gold.
Questions that smother a genius and a scholar
he answers like magician from magic sleeve
none of that is problem to this moral crawler
as long as audience agrees to play naïve.
He will stump on every existing morality code
for each commandment he'll write ten more
making them pave a smooth career road
self-centered and selfish to very core.
Even when he appears all loving and praising
it's because who knows whom he may need
so anyone falling for that generous phrasing
is deserving to somehow pay for it, indeed.
