Poems of Faith from the Beach 8
Timothy is a Christian who enjoys creating visual art and writing. He has a B.S. in Psychology.
A life of faith is a hard life to live. It is far easier to give up or give in than to endure and grow stringer. These poems are inspired by little glimpses of a faith based life I pick up along my journey. While I do write these to inspire myself or give myself into what living a faith based life really means. I also write these poems so you may be blessed a little or a lot in your daily journey. I hope you enjoy them.
The Prompt for this one is mainly the fact in life and faith we have up days and down days.
Life Is...
Life is
Up and Down
In and out
Give and take
But there is one thing
That never changes
Never changes
God’s Word
It is the same
Yesterday
Today
Tomorrow
Everyday
Not one word
Has been added
No words were
Taken away
Though man has tried
And tried and tried
To make God’s word say
What they want
It to say
Life is
Up and Down
In and out
Give and take
But there is one thing
That never changes
Never changes
God’s Word
I wrote this not really from a prompt but from an idea which popped into my head.
Slip Sliding Away
I’ve know days when
My faith was near
I’ve know days when
Nothing seemed clear
There was no rhyme
No reason, no purpose
For my life
Running in circles
No end in sight
Slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
Trying to stand up
But I still slip
Slip slidin’ away
I’ve tried to look at life
As a beginning
Which leads to an end
Each day I’d pretend
Would be better than
The last
But as I’ve learned
In the past
They are all the same
The only thing which changes
Is where you put your faith
In the ideas of man
Or Jesus who gives life
Anything else is
Slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
Trying to stand up
But I still slip
Slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
Trying to stand up
But I still slip
Slip slidin’ away
I got the idea for this be from a seminar by a well known Philly pastor I went to a long time ago.
It’s Friday But Sundays Coming
It’s Friday but Sundays comin’
What more can be said
Can’t have life one day
The other six be dead
Sunday is just one day
It takes seven to make a week
What do you do the other days
Whose truth do you seek
It’s friday but sundays comin’
Is there any guilt
Or are you livin’ your life
As the church god built
Chuch is not just a building
Where on sunday we go
Church is living the life
Of the savior you know
It’s friday but sundays comin’
What more can i say
Are you livin your walk
Yours or god’s way
The idea comes from something I heard about you live a life of faith stuck in a rut or moving along the road. It all depends whether you faith is growing or standing still.
Reset Your Life
It’s time for you to reset your life
To put away all your sin and strife
Just push escape leave the past life behind
Move to a new life, more joy you’ll find
Reset your life, reset your life
Just push escape
Reset your life, reset your life
Reset your life Your life is a mess
It’s time for a change, time to confess
Reset your life, placing tomorrow in His hands
Living life according to a more divine plan
Reset your life, reset your life
Just push escape
Reset your life, reset your life
The idea for this poem comes from the notion people need to evaluate
Why?
Why should you believe Jesus is the Son?
Why should you believe in what He’s done?
You’ve never met him, never saw His works
All you have is a book of old words
But look at what your eyes can’t see
All His works, the people he set free
The lives He’s changed, all for the good
The hurts He’s healed, no one else could
He’s clearly still very much at work today
He still answers those prayers sent His way
He still lifts up lives from the depths
He brings the heart a whole new breath
So why should you believe in the Son?
So why believe in the good He’s done
Because
He wants to come and change your heart
He wants you to come and never depart
The idea for this poem came from the fact that many read their Bible but never use the Word to help shape their faith.
The Word
You hear the Word
Yeah, sure it’s okay
But what do you do
With the Word of God
Each and every day
Do you read it?
Do you study it?
Do you take it to heart?
Do you love it?
Do you share it?
Do you let it not depart?
You hear the Word
Yeah, sure it’s okay
But what do you do
With the Word of God
Each and every day
Do you believe it?
Do you trust it ?
Do you see it as truth?
Do you use it?
Do you seek it?
Do you accept it as is?
God’s Word never changes
It’s the same today as before
Though many try to change it
Or write it off as an old folklore
One question is left to ask you
One question for you this day
You hear the Word
Yeah, sure it’s okay
But what do you do
With the Word of God
Each and every day
Faith
Can’t
See
Nor touch
Still believe
Deep inside your heart
Impacts how you live all your life
