I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

The Hands of Friendship consist of 3 poems in response to "Word Prompts Help Creativity / Week 9" by Brenda Arledge.

Divine Friendship is a poem that descibes when we stop trusting in others as friends and put our faith only in God.

Hand of Friendship is a poem about how friendship comes quite close to lasting forever, being with us up to the end.

Long Distance Friends is a poem about treasuring the friendships we make across the borders with people we have never met.

I hope you enjoy them.

Devine Friendship

She has no need for superficial friendships,

they’ve broke her once before

with their callous concern.

She puts her trust in the one

who rules the heavens and the earth,

who doesn’t hesitate to reach out with a helping hand.

One who never lets her down

time and time again,

showing her the way to breathe again.

When your best friend is God, you are never alone.

Hand of Friendship

Nothing last forever

but friendship comes quite close,

as we treasure

those hardcore moments

right up until life’s end.

Like the vastness of the ocean

friends exist within each wave

guiding us away from turbulence

to the calmness of the shore.

A true friend is someone who sees the pain in your eyes while everyone else believes the smile on your face.

Long Distance Friends

Across the borders

out of arms reach,

the solace of a friendship is born.

A treasure to hold close

helping one to broaden his horizons,

learning new lingo along the way.

A chance to view a different perspective

sharing moments,

both happy and sad.

A place one enjoys a smile or two

feeling like he’s talking to the person next door,

without realizing the miles in between.

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

— Dr. Seuss

Hey Bobbi...toss that friendship poem here

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on May 08, 2021:

Bobbi

Thanks for reading my work.

Sorry you had trouble sleeping, I do that too.

I hope your story gets published in the magazine.

I really hope you can start sharing your work with us.

You would be surprised at how many people you can touch through your words.

We often feel the same way.

There's nothing wrong with being a loner unless you are not happy.

It helps to have friends here on Hubpages...even when you keep to yourself.

I have read some of your work and it is amazing.

Although I do understand that some words are for yourself...not to be shared.

Have a great Mother's Day.

Barbara Purvis Hunter from Florida on May 08, 2021:

Hi Brenda it is 3:28 am and I am so tired I cannot sleep. I just read your hub and it is beautifully true. I wrote a poem years ago about friendship to make a friend who was having a bad time feel the love of her friends.

I have been editing a short story to be published hopefully in a magazine. Most of the time I just write my short stories and not share them with others. Why? I suppose they seem like my babies to hold close and not let others see them.

I am such a loner--but trying to change from living in my own little world.

Have a happy Mothers' Day.

Until Later,

Bobbi Purvis

Vidya,

Thank you.

It's hard to catch everyone's work in the news feed these days.

I'm delighted you caught it.

Thank you for such heartwarming comments.

That quote is one of my favorites.

A true ftiend can tell what us hiding behind a smile.

Take care.

VIDYA D SAGAR on April 18, 2021:

A beautiful take on the different types of friendship Brenda. I loved Divine Friendship the most. Trusting the divine to never let us down helps us to go on in life. The quote' A true friend is someone who sees the pain in your eyes while everyone else believes the smile on your face, is heartwarming. I don't know how I missed commenting on this before. I got a chance to read it again when I saw it in the feed.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on April 18, 2021:

Ann,

It isn't encouraged to hand shake right now, but I see others doing it a bit.

But my reference to The Hands of Friendship is more or less the different kind of friendships & how each one effects our lives.

Have a great day.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on April 18, 2021:

Miebakagh,

Delighted you enjoy this one.

Take care.

Ann Carr from SW England on April 18, 2021:

Lovely facets of friendship here, Brenda. The 'hand' of friendship was one that didn't occur to me, though we hear it often enough. We're not encouraged to touch at the moment, are we, but I hope those hands can be extended again soon.

Brenda, all of the three types are well written and well expressed. I like all of them but the First One is the best Divine friendship. Friendship with God. When everyone breaks us ONLY, He is there to hold us.

Blessings and Peace
