Poem: Yearning For You

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Echoes of your voice
as I walk through the rooms
of this empty house,
picturing you sitting upon the couch.

Familiar smells lingering
from the kitchen,
grasping to this illusion
hoping you are preparing dinner.

Loading laundry in the washer,
folding clothes, then putting them away
upset because it takes all day,
wondering how you did it all with ease.

As I fall asleep alone,
I can no longer lay in our bed
without you next to me
waiting for your goodnight hug.

Jason,

I am sorry I didn't see it before.

It is so difficult to handle the loneliness when someone you love is missing.

I am glad this one helped to shed a bew light for you to understand. I hope your friend is doing better.

A very moving and meaningful poem filled with an empty sadness. About a year ago, a friend of mine had his wife of 27 years pass away. They have no kids or pets. Ever since then he’s been very sad and lonely. This poem really helped make me understand how he must be feeling. Especially, when you have lived with someone and loved them for so long. It has to be so hard; impossible. It really moved me, "ouch" my heart. Thanks for sharing this one.

Thank you, Iqra.

The beauty of pain...I guess that makes it a little less sad.

Thanks for reading. Stop by anytime.

Your poem perfectly describes the loss we feel when that special person is no longer there. Poignant and sad.
