I love poetry. I am a lifestyle enthusiast and like to write articles and poems on lifestyle changes that benefit people.
My Writing Journey
My love of reading and writing started in my early school days. We had a library in our school and we were given a book each week to read. I would read my allotted book within two or three days and borrow books from my friends and finish them too. I read everything; novels, short stories, poems, journals, newspapers. I was a voracious reader.
I had a journal in which I used to jot down nice quotes and sayings from the books that I read. I also had a diary in which I used to write about my day to day activities. And of course letter writing was my favorite hobby. Writing letters to friends and relatives and receiving their replies used to be fun. Juggling between a job and household responsibilities, I was not able to give much time to writing. It is only recently that I have been able to concentrate on my writing and started my blog at HubPages.
There comes a point in your life when you need to stop reading other people's books and write your own
— Albert Einstein
Writing on HubPages
Writing at HubPages has been a great experience for me. The Learning Centre is very helpful to new writers. The community of friends here are very encouraging and friendly. I will cherish this friendship always. We get to learn a lot in the discussions on forums here and also by reading the articles published by other writers. I also believe that writing can be therapeutic. I understand that to become a successful writer is really tough. it needs years of practice and struggle. But with determination one can become a good writer.
Consistency is important to become a good writer. Not getting discouraged by rejections and failures and continuing to put your thoughts, feelings, and knowledge for the readers to see will surely yield recognition and success at some point. One should never give up even in the face of a few failures. All great writers have faced rejection initially. But with grit and resolve, when they never give up and continue to write, they get recognition and success.
Write until it becomes as natural as breathing. Write until not writing makes you anxious
— Christina Katz
Love of Poetry
I loved poetry during my college days and tried to compose a few poems too. And when I was studying Literature in college, in the poetry section, I loved the poetry of the romantic era. I would read and reread the poems of Wordsworth, Keats, Yeats, Shelly, Coleridge, Byron and Southey. I loved their depiction of nature and importance they gave to emotions and imagination. Their sympathy for the oppressed, their contemplation of life was reflected in their work..
My dream is to become a good writer, and poet one day. One does not need a reason to write. Inspiration is all around us. Good writers see stories in everyday events and people that they meet. They can write about anything and everything. Procrastination is the enemy of a writer. I have personally experienced this. When I postpone writing about a topic, I end up not writing it. That is the reason the moment an idea flashes in my mind, I jot down sentences in my journal which comes in handy while creating an article or poem.
Word Prompts help Creativity-Week 42-Writing
Our dear friend Brenda gave us the word prompt ‘writing’ this weel. The word prompt reminded me of my journey into writing. Though I had published many articles on HubPages, I had never tried poetry but always admired and loved reading Brenda’s poems. She gave us a chance to try our hand at poetry by giving us word prompts every week. It is a wonderful endeavour on her part as this gives us an opportunity to try out creative forms of writing like poetry, short stories, articles, etc. I hope this poem is a good response to this weeks word prompt and hope that Brenda and my other hubber friends like it.
I can shake off everything as I write; My sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn
— Anne Frank
Summary of the Poem
The poem is about my journey as a writer which started because of my passion for writing. I can write almost about anything. I pen the feelings of my heart. I don’t know writers block, as ideas are always brimming in my mind. I get inspiration from everything around me. Mother nature is a good teacher and I try to put in words the beauty of her creation. Writing is a sort of compulsion for me and money is not my goal. Writing keeps my imagination alive and it is also like therapy. Procrastination is the big impediment in my work. Writing is the aim of my life now. I know it is a difficult and lonely path, but I am determined to persevere and succeed at my art of writing.
I have a passion for writing
To put into words my feelings
To share what gives me delight
Now it is the sole aim of my life.
Writer’s block I have never felt
My mind is always brimming with ideas
I strive to write a particular part
That creates a turmoil in my heart.
I find inspiration and creativity
All around and in everday activity
Taking lessons from mother nature
I try to create words about her splendor.
Writing keeps my imagination alive
Helps me create characters I admire
I know the path of a writer is not easy
being true to my soul always frees me.
I pour out what is in my heart and soul
Money or power is not my goal
Writing is best for me who am an introvert
Helps me get a better life perspective.
I can feel myself transform
When I start writing verse form
The words come alive inside
And start dancing in my mind.
Writing is for me the purpose of my living
The realm of imagination is very exciting
I know it is a difficult and lonely profession
But to persevere is my determination.
