Poem: When Today Begins

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

My muse kept drifting to a different element for this prompt. One that shows the moment in time when the today actually begins.

I hope you like it.

"When Today Begins" is a poem written for the word prompt, "Today."

It describes the feeling of the universe as twilight peeks its head over the horizon. It shows us the sensation of that first moment when the age of today begins.

"Live For Today - Fearless Soul"

When Today Begins

An eerie feeling comes across the universe

when twilight peeks his head

over the horizon

with a glimmer of soft diffused light.

The song birds begin singing

a delightful sound ,

alerting us of this miracle

when time changes frames.

A glorious beauty of light

filters through tiny crevices of our homes,

blessing us with a sense of peacefulness

inside our souls as we awake.

One spectacular display

showcasing the age of today,

the moment it first begins

enchanting us with its grace.

Imagine all of us living in peace

It's too beautiful to just be a dream

— John Lennon

Ann,

Thanks.

That early morning when the light first begins gives us hope.

We feel refreshed...ready to tackle the day.

Maybe this one should have been about sunrise or light instead.

Oh well...enjoy your day.

Keep celebrating your Birthday each day...you only get one year with it.

Have a great day & pet those kitties.

The sunrise brings all sorts of wonderful lights and feelings, expectations for the day. It's all new and we can start again, maybe make amends or go on to great things. You create the sense of light pervading every little space.

You are so right Brenda. The feeling that comes over when we see the sun slowly rising over the horizon starting a new today cannot be expressed in words. It signifies the a new glimmer of hope, a new day to fight ongoing battles and also a new day to close long pending issues. Thanks for sharing.
