Poem: Wave Away Trauma

Wave Away Trauma

Sweet moments spared some time,

Like everything else that perishes,

What was once cherished lost its shine,

Unknowingly bitter in the end.

A wave of emotions crashes down my spine,

Washing shock over my veins,

The effect of the crash echoes disturbingly,

Carrying feverish fears and pain.

Crashes still put us to a halt,

The end is a beginning,

Waves roll more confidently than ever,

Absorbing sun rays with newer strength.

Life is a roller coaster ride of emotions, we have to go with the flow and keep going. Nicely written!

Thanks for your comment, Rinita. I'm glad that the words managed to make you stronger, even just a bit. That's also a nice metaphor. You find the sea healing.

Rinita Sen on November 15, 2019:

Li-Jen, every time I visit one of your poems I leave a little bit stronger than I was. Such is the power of your words. The analogy between the depth of sorrow and sea waves touches me as I find the sea to be quite healing. I especially adore the last line, with the waves gaining new strength, but my favorite part is with the waves of emotions washing shock over veins - exquisitely poetic, that.

Li-Jen Hew (author) on November 09, 2019:

Have you suffered a crash? Hope you are stronger now. Good poetry.

Ioannis Arvanitis from Greece, Almyros on November 09, 2019:

My dear Li-Jen, you are growing up through difficulties, like all we do. But, I can already see a great blessing that those difficulties have offered you. The pressure helps the carbon to become a diamond, a beautiful crystal ( Li Ching). Your talent shines! Thank you for sharing!

May every end be a blessing to you!

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on November 09, 2019:

Yes, Li-Jen, emotions often sweep through like waves ebbing and flowing...happy, sad, bitter, grateful etc...I guess that is part of life. We have to accept the sorrow to also feel the joy. Well-written.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on November 09, 2019:

Anyone who "feels" will get something out of this poem. We all share so many similarities. Pain is pain...happiness is happiness...loss is loss...I can relate.

Blessings to you always!
