Poem: Undying Love

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"Undying Love" is a poem about loving someone when they are hurting. We want to stop the pain but we cannot.

We can only hold on to memories and let him see our smile.

As we wait for that moment when time stands still. That moment we no longer feel his embrace.

"George Jones ~ He Stopped Loving Her Today"

Undying Love

It's like a chisel is cutting out pieces of her heart

a little each day,

she hurts beyond repair

knowing she cannot stop his pain.

Photos flash through her mind

touching memories,

as he reaches out one last time

to see her smile,

before that final curtain calls.

When time stands still

leaving her breathless and alone,

no longer feeling the warmth of his embrace,

until eternity takes her soul.

poem-undying-love

To lose someone you love is to alter your life forever..

The pain stops, there are new people, but the gap never closes..

This hole in your heart is the shape of the one you lost -

no one else can fit it.

Sharing that last moment together is a memory one will always carry with them when time stops for one of them.

There must be something missing in the goodbye greeting or message you sent to a loved one who goes the way of all the earth. It's companionship! Very priceless!

Lora Hollings on July 23, 2021:

A beautiful poem, Brenda, about having to say our final goodbyes to those that we love. We can only try to give them comfort and express our deep love for them as we helplessly watch. One of the most difficult things in life is to say that final goodbye.

You are right about that one.

We should just tell people we love them.

Have a great day.

I can feel the emotion in here, I just don't like goodbyes. But sadly it's part of our lives, wethwer we like it or not everything and everyone has an end and we don't even know when it will be. So since the present is still here let's wrap our arms around them and say I love you and how they matter to us.

Sending super power hugs Ms Brenda and a bunch of I love yous!!!

But being there & praying is all one can really do.

A very touching poem Brenda. It is very difficult to see someone we love go through pain and we can't do much about it. We pray for them and hope for a miracle. Take care, stay safe and have a good day.

Thank you.

It doesnt matter if people are together or not.

But this kind of parting will bring no joy. Only memories.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Poets on July 20, 2021:

Bredz, your poem is chock-full of emotions. Love never dies, and this is really true. It doesn't matter if you're together or separated. Love is always present. Sufferings and pain can sometimes bring joy.

Stay happy and keep smiling :)

Blessings and Love, dear friend

At some point, most of us experience losing loved ones, and it is always painful. What sustains us over time are our memories which can live on as long as we are alive.

There is pain inherent in the act of loving, but I can't imagine life without the joys and the pains. Well-written, my friend, and right to the "heart" of the matter.
