Poem: Trusting in You

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

Trusting in you is a poem about starting a new relationship. One often jumps in without thinking. He leaves his heart unprotected. He trusts he will not get hurt by lies. He hopes true love is the reason for one's kindness.

Trusting in You

Trusting in you
without question,
praying love is the reason
behind your kind gestures.

Wishful thinking,
with fingers crossed,
anticipating your heart to be true.

Jumping in feet first
with an unprotected heart,
hoping for no deceit,
no white lies
hidden in your words,
that will shatter me to pieces.

I agree. Trust is a very hard issue in relationships. Especially for those who have been hurt in the past.

Thank you for reading my work.

Trust, in my opinion, is the hardest thing to maintain in a relationship. We should all aspire to become trustworthy.

Thank you for reading my work.

Yes, treading with care and going slow is always great advice.

Too often though...the heart jumps ahead.

It would seem the words "tread with care" and "go slow" are in order here. Good poem Brenda.
