Poem: Treasures in My Heart - Response to Word Prompt Tomorrow

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

1st Poem Summary

Treasures in my heart is a poem asking for one more moment to touch the loved ones in his life in case tomorrow doesn't come.

He wants them to know the admiration he feels for them and that he will treasure their love in his heart for all time.

Treasures in My Heart

Grant me one more moment

to wrap my arms around

those who make my soul

feel complete,

let me touch each one of them

with all the love hiding inside my heart.

Like my precious pets

who bring me joy,

putting on a cartoon show

or curling up beside me.

Or my heartthrob

who brings me happiness,

with each trivial second

we share together.

Or family members

who stand in my corner

when life challenges my every step.

Let them understand the deep connection

constantly tapping away inside my heart,

full of admiration and respect

with enough love for each of them.

Trusting I will hold these treasures

close to my heart,

in this new space of infinity

where tomorrow doesn’t exist.

"If Tomorrow Never Comes - by Garth Brooks"

Bible Scripture

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

(Matthew 6:21)

2nd Poem Summary

A Better Tomorrow was written in the moments of this Covid-19 era when life as we knew it got tossed upside down.

We were left yearning for yesterday as we reflected in solitude.

Our hearts filled with hope for a better tomorrow.

Ms Chrish

Thank you for your kind words.

It warms my heart to know my poems touch your soul.

Yes, it's important to live life by what's important..not what society thinks is important.

Have a great day.

Chrish Canosa from Manila Philippines on March 25, 2021:

I'm always more than satisfied with your poetic mindset Ms Brenda!!!

The message hits the bone. I often remind my self -- " life is just one day and that day is today " so I can spend my time to things that matter instead of doing things to feel accepted by the society.

Great message Once again Ms Brenda. Have a wonderful day ahead hugs and kisses! And also take care always

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on March 25, 2021:

Misbah,

Thank you.

I am delighted to hear you enjoyed both of them.

I have so much fun writing with word prompts. My hope is it will not only help us to be creative, but help us to have fun writing.

Glad you liked the Bible Scripture...that is a part of me.

Have a grrat day.

Rosina,

I appreciate your kind words.

Thank you.

We never really know when there will be no more tomorrows ...so let other's know how you feel.

So glad you liked my other poem too.

Hopefully with this vaccine we can find a glimmer of light.

Take care.

Misbah from The Planet Earth on March 25, 2021:

I enjoyed both poems, Brenda

You are always very creative and I like this nature of yours

Thanks for bringing out our creativity as well, we all are exploring our creativeness as well because of your word prompts. Thanks for being so kind.

This verse from Bible Scripture is so true Indeed, For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

I enjoyed the read, Thanks for sharing

Blessings always

I love both your poems in response to the prompt word "Tomorrow". How true that we should treasure our loved ones when we can in case tomorrow never comes. The poem "A Better Tomorrow" certainly gives hope for tomorrow given all the lives that were tossed and were in turmoil due to Covid-19. Thank you, Brenda, for sharing. I appreciate truly what you have composed so well.

Manatita44,

That's one way to look at it...life's habits.

In this poem it's more about knowing you will miss those moments in your life...all the hearts you have touched.

I do agree that nothing is as haphazard as it seems.

manatita44 from london on March 24, 2021:

No. The way of growth is through fire. Grace does intervene, yes, either directly from God or through the Will of God's advocates. Generally, however, we reap the results of our Samskaras (Habits or impressions of this life and former lives) Nothing is as haphazard as it seems.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on March 24, 2021:

Manatita44,

Thank you.

It's hard to say what our desires might be.

Have we fulfilled them or do we leave too soon?

Glad you liked the bible verse!

Take care & have a great evening.

manatita44 from london on March 24, 2021:

Interesting one.

The price is never right! When I'm ready to check out, who knows if I'll still be wanting something? The life of desire is extremely powerful!

By the way, that quote from Matthew is extremely profound. It's no joke! Charming song and wonderful words.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on March 24, 2021:

Bill,

Thank you.

I suppose it is a simple message.

One we often forget with the hassles of the day.

Treasure them? That's just me saying I will hold their memory close to my heart.

Have a great evening.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on March 24, 2021:

Peggy,

Thank you.

I do believe our pets and the people close to us are very valuable treasures.

Have a great night.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on March 24, 2021:

Liz,

Thank you.

I'm glad the emotion touched you.

Have a great evening.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on March 24, 2021:

Pamela,

Thank you so much!

It is hard to think about leaving the ones we love, but we know one day it will happen.

Take care.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on March 24, 2021:

Love it all; the musical choices were spot on. If tomorrow never comes, have I done what I could have to tell those I love that I do, indeed, treasure them? My goodness, such a simple message, and yet how often do we fail to do so?

Thanks for the reminder. I'm going to get right on that task of love.

Blessings

You captured the essence of the word treasures when you mentioned your pets and loved ones you hold dear. They can make the difference between a good day or a great one!
