Poem: Time Warp

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"Time Warp" is a poem about a couple who separated but desperately want to be together.

Each night they linger like ghosts from the past, igniting the fire between them.

Watching the clock tic down, holding one another tight, playfully kissing goodbye until another night.

Time Warp

Parting ways seems so out of place,

they are in a time warp

desperately wishing to caress

the harbored love hiding deep inside.

Ghosts resurrected from the past,

lingering in the present,

too afraid to bury the heartache

that split them wide open.

Reaching for a magic connection

to pull them close again,

touching sweet moments,

sharing a smile or two,

facing an uncertain future

within each familiar second.

Playing with broken sticks,

igniting a fire,

quenching their thirst,

jumpstarting flames of passionate desire

losing themselves in those final seconds

watching the hands on the clock tic down.

Gazing into one another’s eyes

tightly embracing loves grasp

with no words to utter

they playfully kiss goodbye until another night.

Relationships include:

fights,

jealousy,

arguments,

faith,

tears

disagreements,

but a real relationship fights through all that with love.

Thanks for your comment.

I think learning to trust in a relationship tosses people into these time warps.

Have a great day.

You really show the game of love among the couple in your poem, playing with a lot of their emotions. It would be really good if they can get together as I always love happy endings. LOL! Thanks for sharing, Brenda.

Relationships can be so complicated, but I guess we as human beings are the ones to complicate things. It seems that this couple should be together. This is a very good poem, Brenda.

Thank you so much.

There is always alot of emotional turmoil playing in the game of love.

It can be wonderful & exciting or a devastation.

Love can be a dream or sheer torture if it is not meant to be. You have penned this poem so well showcasing the emotional turmoil throughout.

Thank you.

I'm not sure if they are destined to be together or just refusing to let go.

Life happens that way.

The agony of human love. Sometimes it seems strange to me that I went through all that. Seems distant, dry ... lacking.
