Poem: The Sands of Time

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Article Summary

"The Sands of Time" is my response to "Word Prompts Help Creativity ~ Week 48" (Sand).

I've included three poems. "Sand ~ an Acrostic poem, "Hourglass of Time" and "Bucket List."

Sand is a symbol of time. The one thing we can never get back once it's gone.

Sand ~ Acrostic Poem

Small particles disintegrated from rocks
An hour glass passing time
Nature’s finest gem
Dividing the sea from land.

Hourglass of time

Grains of sand
silently count down,
time ticks away,
is there such a thing
as one more day?

When moments pass too quick,
for us to notice
the clock is running out,
dreams shatter,
leaving us behind
standing all alone.

Why do we not see,
those cherished seconds
flashing before our eyes,
before the moment
time slips away?

Bucket List

Listening to the echo of the doctors’ voice
he craves the roar of the ocean waves,
driving eight hundred seventy-five miles
to trudge his feet through white sand
feeling the coolness of the water
touch his feet.

While others think he’s insane,
spending his last dollar
to sit on a balcony
of high-priced hotel,
his body’s smile tells him
it's the right choice.

The sands of time cannot be stopped.

Years pass whether we will them or not...but we can remember.

What has been lost may yet live in memories.
