Poem: The Grass Ain't Greener

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

"What we Aint Got" by Jake Owen

Summary of poem

The grass ain't greener is about one freely giving his passion to another believing the grass is greener on the other side. He plays with his new toy discarding the one who has his back. When his actions boomerang he sees the shadows from the past wanting back what he no longer has in his life.

"Must've Never Met You" by Luke Combs

"The Grass Ain't Greener"

His passion freely given
to one who caught his eye,
playing on his every word,
tempting him with pleasures
like a child with a new toy.

Touching greener grass,
discarding one who has his back,
actions boomerang,
haunting him with memories,
shadows of the past.

Yes, Life can be this way for many, as we go in search of new pastures. I took a leap 38 years ago. Fortunately, I'm still where I ought to be. Praise Be!

Thank you so much.

It is sad that one has to feel the loss before he knows what he really had and then appreciates it.

Glad you like the music.

Thank you.

I am fine. This is not about forgetting or forgiving my Soulmate.

This is about one who thinks the grass is greener on the other side only to find out that it really is not.

He looks back.. thinking of the one he had wishing he could grasp it again.

Have a great day!

Words of wisdom within the lines of this poem Brenda. It's a sad reality that we only truly appreciate what we have, when we have lost it. Loved this one - great music.

It's okay, Brenda. You can forget and forgive the one who hurt you. You have a whole lifetime ahead and it is my belief you will find your soul mate. Cheer up!
