Poem: Temporary Illusion

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"Temporary Illusion" is a poem written about how she deals with noisy neighbors.

She turns the blinds down & makes a private paradise where dreams come true & magic flies through the air.

Temporary Illusion

Sitting on the inside looking out,

feeling a dark mood

she cannot shake,

hearing the sounds of each tire

pulling in and out of the drive.

Music blaring,

door’s slam,

not a moments rest

in the neighborhood.

She creates an illusion,

as her hands twist the wand

turning the window blinds down,

giving birth to privacy

where she can live in her own little paradise.

A place where dreams come true,

and magic flies through the air,

no longer crying tears of despair.

I remember those good days when I lived in a great neighborhood.

Maybe one day I will again.

Take care.

Sports can be noisy, but that's part of the fun.

I have earplugs, but I don't like using them in case I need to be awake.

I've gotten kinda of used to keeping the blinds closed.

Take care & sending you hugs.

Sorry your area is noisy.

I'd love to live in the country too.

Your old place with 40 acres sounds amazing.

I'm glad you have great neighbors now.

The problem here is people care more about getting rent money than checking out references.

That's music to my heart...country living.

It would be so nice to sit outside and take it all in.

Hopefully it is getting there.

But who knows, they're not very good at screening them.

Have a great night.

Thank you.

I've been dealing with people in and out all hours of the night, but thankfully they are moving.

Glad you liked it.

Fortunately, our neighbors are respectful and do not create noisy situations that are disruptive for us. We are fortunate in having good neighbors.

It has been years and years since I lived where I had noisy neighbors. I remember the frustration of it all. Thankfully, we now live in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Poets on August 19, 2021:

Our neighbors sometimes get mad when there is a football match in Barcelona especially when it is with Real Madrid. That sounds so insane to me sometimes. Sometimes the music on Saturday evenings is too loud that we think we can only sleep with earplugs. A temporary illusion is a great idea.

Blessings and Love, Bredz

Temporary illusion to deal with noisy neighbors is a great idea. We live in a nosy street. The din of the traffic during the day is too much. We close windows and turn on the TV. The only feasible solution. I would love to live in a farm somewhere away from this din. Great poem Brenda. Enjoyed reading it.

I have lived on a 40-acre property - peace and quiet with no neighbours close, but now I live in town. Fortunately, my current neighbours are not very noisy so I have no complaints. Great poem and videos, Brenda. Good job.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on August 19, 2021:

I can't really say we have noisy neighbors. The amount of noise in our neighborhood is about normal for urban living. Having said that, I would love to be in the country, with the nearest neighbor about quarter-mile away. lol

I am fortunate and we are fortunate. No problems here. I hope that your area is quiet. Too much noise create sleepless nights. Peace.

I really enjoyed reading this poem, Brenda. Noisy neighbors can be a royal pain! The temporary illusion paints a nice pice of tranquility. Thanks for sharing this poem, and I like all the colorful quotes as well.

Rosina S Khan on August 19, 2021:

Yes, noisy neighbors will be noisy. You will have to set up a solution for a temporary illusion, which you do so well in your poem. Thanks for sharing, Brenda.

Liz Westwood from UK on August 19, 2021:

This gives a good insight into a coping strategy with noisy neighbors.
