Poem: Taking Chances In Life

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Article Summary

Taking Chances in Life" is a collection of 3 poems in response to "Word Prompts Help Creativity ~ Week 51 by Brenda Arledge."

Life is too short. Take a chance to make your dreams come true.

Every detail in life begins with one chance.

Sometimes you get lucky and find your heart's desire.

Life’s Plan Starts with Chance

At first, he thinks they meet by accident
but time soon unfolds
a different story.

There's a plan
behind this madness
far greater than he knows.

Her unconditional love
shows him how to release the chains
which hold him back.

He embraces true love
risking it all
for the first time,
no longer tackling
haunting moments alone.

Together they embrace one another
in the best place in the world,
in each other’s hugs
watching their last sunset.

Because some things only happen ONCE.

Lucky Chance

She takes a chance
betting two dollars
on a scratch off lottery ticket.

Shocked and amazed
three entries appear
giving her a chance
to appear on a televised game show.

Using her smartphone
she quickly submits her lucky ticket
then eagerly awaits the drawing.

She dreams about traveling
and updating the clothes in her closet
planning each detail out in her head
hoping to help out family members & friends
before the money is in her hands.

The drawing date comes
but she misses the aired show
and waits with anticipation
for the names to post.

Finally, the moment comes
but her name is not on the list
so, her dreams don’t come true just yet,
but she’s on her way up to the local store
to make another bet.
