Poem: Take Your Chance

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"Take Your Chance" is a short poem reminding us to learn lessons from our past. Make different choices.

Then with this new mentality, grab the desires you want before they slip away.

"One More Last Chance ~ Vince Gill"

Take Your Chance

Turn the page,

make it different,

learn a lesson

from the past.

Don’t dawdle,

grab your desires,

before the moment

slips away.

poem-take-your-chance

If you're not scared then you're not taking a chance.

If you're not taking a chance then what the hell are you doing anyway?

Yes, we do.

This one is alot like my "life is a gamble " poem.

We take risks all the time.

Yet, sometimes we don't take that risks for what we truly desire.

Have a nice day.

I like the idea of taking a chance. Actually, we do it all the time: with friendships, eating out, crossing the road and so much more. Higher blessings!

Lora Hollings on September 01, 2021:

As they say, "the greatest risk is to risk nothing at all." Your poem with such a profound message certainly gets this point across, Brenda. We need to live each and every moment before all the moments are gone.

Thank you.

Time has a way of slipping through our fingers.

We need to grasp our desires before it's too late.

Take care.

Loved your poem, It is always important to look ahead and be sure of the steps we take but then nothing ventured as they say is nothing gained, I love that last verse,

Brenda - yes, nothing ventured and all that. But as you point out, it can be so very scary. Still, if we don’t take that first step, take that risk while learning from prior mistakes, we are not living life to its fullest. I, too, loved the quotes and your thoughtful, thought-provoking poem. Nice work!

That quote does spark some truth...we usually feel a bit scared when we are taking a chance.

Guess that's how we learn though.

Take care gal.

We suit up and show up daily; after that, we take chances with every decision we make, and then we hold on tight for the outcome. Life's exciting like that, isn't it?

Great message! Well done, my friend!
