Summer-The Season of Happiness

Summer is a season of happiness. This is the time to take that much needed break from work and plan outings and trips. The children also have holidays during the summer and it is a time for fun and frolic together. We get to relax, without a worry in the world, bask in the sunshine, take evening walks on the beach, lying on the grass, take in the cool evening breeze, and count the stars in the night sky. Everyone needs this summer break to reset and rejuvenate from the daily grind of life. A person who is cheerful and happy always is said to be a ‘person with a sunny disposition’. That’s how sunshine is associated with, cheer, happiness and positivity.

Brenda's Word Prompt this Week is "Sunshine"

Brenda gave us the word prompt ‘Sunshine’ this week. Brenda is very a talented poet. She creates such beautiful poems. I love poems and poems on nature are my favorite. So, when I saw the word prompt this week, I immediately felt a surge of joy. It brought pictures of bright beautiful days, sunny beaches, nature in full bloom, birds chirping happily, butterflies fluttering with gay abandon. So, I decided to compose a poem on the images that filled my mind. My other Hubber friends have come up with such unique, beautiful poems on various themes for this word prompt. I am really amazed by their creativity. Mine is a modest attempt and I hope Brenda and all my hubber friends like it.

Poem- Sunshine Brings Hope

When I opened my eyes

Drew the curtains and

looked out of the window

The beautiful sunrise smiled at me.

The warm sunshine on my face

Made my heart sing

Filled me with hope

Of a bright new day.

The sunshine brings light

Brings new life and

Sparkle in the air

The sun sheds its glow

On hills and valleys alike.

Beautiful flowers blossom

The grass looks greener

The warm water of the sea

Beacons you again.

Embrace the sunshine

See it light up your soul

With freshness and cheer

And a new season of hope.

Leave behind the gloom of the past

Welcome the sunshine into your life

Believe in the light, it can heal you

And let your spirits to soar again.

Grandma's Sunshine

Grandma's Sunshine

Sunshine-An Acrostic Poem

Grandparents share a special bond with their grandchildren. They love watching them grow. It reminds them of the childhood of their children. The grandchildren on their part love their grandparents sometimes more than their parents because they are not strict and are fun to be with. They love to listen to their wonderful stories and learn new words from them. This poem is about a Grandma’s love for her granddaughter. She calls her sunshine and is happy just to be with her. Her talk fills her with joy and she feels that her presence brings meaning to her life. The child is naughty and seeks attention all the time. She regales her grandma with her antics and endears her with her smile.

She is grandma’s sunshine

Unique is she in every way

Nana she calls grandma with love

She knows not how much

Her nana cares for her

Innocent that she is

Needs attention all the time

Endears her grandma with a smile so divine

Vidya

Summer does seem like the season of happiness.

Everyone is outside enjoying life.

Nature is one of earth's amazing delights.

I'm delighted to know this word prompt, sunshine, made you think about beautiful days, sunny beaches, nature in full bloom, birds chirping happily, & butterflies.

Your poem, "Sunshine Brings Hope" touches us from the moment you open the curtain.

We can picture the sunrise smiling at you.

Sunshine does bring hope to our hearts. It brightens up everything around us giving new life. We can see fresh blooming flowers and greener grass.

It's like a beacon calling to us to come out and enjoy it's presence.

Your poem tells us to leave behind the past and embrace the sunshine.

The light can heal us and make our spirits soar again.

I do believe the sunshine can renew our energy and make us feel young again, maybe even healthier.

In your acrostic poem, "Sunshine" we see the love between a grandmother & grandchild.

Thet both bring sunshine into each other's hearts.

Great job on these poems and the stories leading up to them.

I will post a link in the article.

Thank you so much Flourish. I appreciate your visit and kind words. Sunshine brings lot of happiness and some people choose to call their loved ones sunshine because of the happiness they give them. For a grandmother there is nothing more precious than her granddaughter. So I thought of using the idea in the two poems. Have a great day. Stay blessed.

FlourishAnyway from USA on May 28, 2021:

The poems were very different from one another but both beautifully captured the spirit of the word.
