Stop Lying - She's Not Naive

Blood boiling beneath her skin,
eyes seeing the color red,
realizing once again
he believes she is naïve,
too sweet to understand the truth.

Stringing her along,
speaking words of deceit
hoping to cover up his actions
with no true feelings
for her emotions.

She wants a fast track
to change her appearance
making her forehead scream,
“Don’t mess with me!”

Her heart aches,
wanting to be treated with a basic level of respect,
but sees no effort of him
restoring the truth.

Thank you so much for your heartfelt words.

I believe they do hurt themselves by being liars.

Thanks for reading.

Such strong emotions in this poem about the hurt caused by the pain of being deceived. The sense of being wronged comes through really well in this thought provoking poem Brenda. Great read.

Lynne Samuel from Malaysia on November 21, 2019:

Too many people are like this, underestimating another's power of discernment and thinking they could get away with lying to that person. They only hurt themselves, I think, by being liars. Great poem as akways, meaningful.

Yes, Ms. Dora, realizing life is not fair gives one a feeling of desperation.

Thank you so much for your kind words about my writing. It is so appreciated.

Thank you.

Dora Weithers from The Caribbean on November 21, 2019:

Sounds like the desperation that comes with the realization that life is not fair. You make it seem easy to express such heartfelt emotions, but not many can.

Kari,

Yes, I am sure we have all been strung along at some point.

But for some people it is like everyone assumes they are naive. They believe they can say or do anything and you will just go along without causing waves - Even in ordinary everyday situations. It seems others take advantage of them.

Thank you for reading.

Kari Poulsen from Ohio on November 21, 2019:

I think we all have been strung along in our lives. But some of the stringing is much worse than others.

Too much emotions. Thanks for sharing.
