Poem: Scorched
My name is Candice Ballinger and I am a published author and poet. I love writing poetry of all kinds.
Scorched
Morning, noon, and night
I will cry out to my Lord,
my soul hangs before you
very much alight,
the flames scorching through my veins
my moral standards have begun to benight,
but I cry out in distress,
Lord save me
but I'm sure He knows I am contrite
I will humble myself before Him
my heart is at war,
flesh pinned against the spirit
although he never leaves me,
He knows my sorrows have begun to incite.
Heavens Armies
My enemies are surrounding me
they've come to break down my walls,
have I sinned?
I must have provoked such a reaction
they are here to attack me;
ravage my body and attack my soul
heavens armies rescue me,
angels of fire burn bright, you see?
My Lord listens to my prayers
oh yes, He hears me when I'm lost
and when I'm joyous,
the wicked need no mercy;
they know not what they are
or the help the Lord has sent,
they are blinded by the evil one
never to see what is near,
my enemies cannot break me down
not when I have prayers that the Lord gathers,
when I kneel
for the Lord's answers are of the most renown.
